We had a wonderful time at Rolex Kentucky this weekend, as always. My mom was up for her annual Rolex vacation and we had fun visiting, and introducing her to the little filly, Rose, who happens to share her April Fools' Day birthday. A highlight of the weekend was having our lovely 3 yr old filly, Riverrox, in the Future Event Horse demonstration on Friday during the lunch break. She was one of 5 babies representing the future of event horse breeding and represented Brooklawn farms sporthorse breeding program very well. She behaved exceptionally well for her first trip away from the farm.
We have had a busy spring here at the farm. Both expected foals have arrived safe and sound, and the mares are all booked to stallions that we have hand selected. Gold Coast Kris foaled a superb bay colt by the Storm Cat son, British Blue. He arrived March 9th, at 6:30 am. Blue, as we call him, has an amazing personality, and is truly one of the nicest foals that we have had here. He is everything I would look for in a race prospect, and will be pointed towards the mixed sales in the fall. Miss Muscles produced a spectacular, light bay filly by millionaire MG1SW, Powerscourt (GB). She is tenacious, a little sassy, and very much like her mother, which by the way.....we LOVE! Our plans for Rose (thats her name, by the way!) are to race her in the Brooklawn colors, and then retire her here on the farm to take her mothers place as the matriarch of our broodmare band. We have high hopes for our little Rose, and with good reason. She is a stellar looking kid!
Miss Muscles is booked to the amazingly talented Einstein (BRZ), a son of Spend A Buck. Einstein was a monster on the track, loved the turf, and won close to $3 million during his long career.
Gold Coast Kris was bred earlier this year to Skip Away, but unfortunatly lost twins early on. She has been bred back to him and we are anxiously awaiting her pregnancy check in two weeks.
Coyote's Song is booked to the classy, good looking Strong Contender from Stonewall Stallions. He is a young stallion who is already seeing great results in the sales ring with his first crop of 2yr olds.
Our old mare, Van Van, has been officially retired from broodmare duty. She is in good health, and is happy and sound. She is 20 this year, and will hopefully live a long and happy life with us here at the farm. We have her daughter, Vanning West (Bug), who may one day join the broodmares and continue in her mothers footsteps.
That is all for now.....more later!

| Thanksgiving and a day at the track! |
|
Thanksgiving has come and gone. We had family up for the holiday, which is always nice. We are busy as even here at Brooklawn Farm, and although the fall sales season is past us, we are already hard at work readying for the winter and spring sales. We also have three fillies that are starting their eventing careers and are keeping us quite busy. Riverrox (Keenley), Lilly Bear (Lilly), and Bridle Party (Buttons) are all being aimed for a start in the event world in 2010. Mariatom (Thomas) will also be competing in the spring. We are having a great time selecting 2010 breedings for our lovely mares and have been visiting several local farms and their always impressive stallions.
This past Sunday, we made the drive up to Turfway Park to watch a 2 yr old that we bred make his second career start. He is the 2007 Gelding by Mister Manx, and out of our mare, Gold Coast Kris whos yearling Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) filly we still have on the farm. He was much improved from his first effort on the dirt at River Downs. He still ran a bit green, but showed some talent, and was able to pick off some horses on the turn. It is apparent that he is going to like the longer distances better, as he is a big boy, and takes a while to get rolling. It was great to catch up with his owners and to get to see our boy again. We are really looking forward to his next start!
