Thanksgiving has come and gone. We had family up for the holiday, which is always nice. We are busy as even here at Brooklawn Farm, and although the fall sales season is past us, we are already hard at work readying for the winter and spring sales. We also have three fillies that are starting their eventing careers and are keeping us quite busy. Riverrox (Keenley), Lilly Bear (Lilly), and Bridle Party (Buttons) are all being aimed for a start in the event world in 2010. Mariatom (Thomas) will also be competing in the spring. We are having a great time selecting 2010 breedings for our lovely mares and have been visiting several local farms and their always impressive stallions.
This past Sunday, we made the drive up to Turfway Park to watch a 2 yr old that we bred make his second career start. He is the 2007 Gelding by Mister Manx, and out of our mare, Gold Coast Kris whos yearling Leroidesanimaux (BRZ) filly we still have on the farm. He was much improved from his first effort on the dirt at River Downs. He still ran a bit green, but showed some talent, and was able to pick off some horses on the turn. It is apparent that he is going to like the longer distances better, as he is a big boy, and takes a while to get rolling. It was great to catch up with his owners and to get to see our boy again. We are really looking forward to his next start! |
